No Tour de France trip organized by SportActive in 2010

Join SportActive for a Tour de France experience with a difference in 2008. On this SportActive trip you will get to ride the complete alpine stage n° 17 Embrun-Alpe d'Huez and a few days later watch the Pros racing the same stage.
Our Itinerary for the trip is as follows:
Arrive in Geneva on Saturday 19th July where you and your bike will be transferred by bus to Emburn. At arrival, your bike boxes/bags and luggage will be transferred to St Jean de Maurienne, where we shall stay for the remainder of the time. A small overnight bag will be transported in the support car on the day of the cycle.
Evening meal and overnight stay in Hotel La Portette where we shall hold a briefing for the big challenge the following day. The next morning, the coach will drop us off in Embrun, at the departure of the stage. The luggage will stay in the bus.
On Sunday morning after breakfast we shall begin the stage. There will be two ability groups and they will be supported by a following vehicle. The stage itself is 210 km and is a classic Alpine stage taking in the Col du Lautaret, col du Galibier, Col de la Croix-de-Fer and finishing on l'Alpe-d'Huez.
Sunday evening: our coach will be waiting for us at Alpe d'Huez and bring us to Hotel St Georges in St Jean de Maurienne.
Following the big challenge of Sunday, Monday will be our rest day. This will allow you to explore the town of St Jean de Maurienne.
Tuesday will give us the chance to re-discover our legs and do some touring over one of the other classic Alpine climbs (Col de la Madeleine, Col du Glandon, La Toussuire...)
Wednesday the Pros will be racing "our stage". As we are based on the Stage route you will be able to ride from the hotel to your own vantage point.
Sean Kelly, SportActive's special guest,
will be joining us for the dinner in St Jean de Maurienne, on 23rd July.
They will be coming directly from the stage finish at Alpe d'Huez to join us for the evening. This will give you the opportunity to get first hand in depth knowledge of the Tour.
Thursday we depart for Geneva.

Hotel La Portette is a two star family hotel, rooms on suite, situated close to the ski resort Les Orres at 1650 m altitude, 16 km from Embrun, were our stage starts. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly, the panorama astonishing. The evening meal will be tailored to meet your nutritional needs of the big ride of the next day. This quiet place in the middle of the mountains is your guarantee for a good sleep and your chance to fill up your own energy tank.
Hotel St Georges*** is ideally situated in the centre of St Jean de Maurienne. The bedrooms on suite are soundproofed and comfortably equipped (31 channels including foreign channels, Telephone with modem connexion, Wifi Hot-Spot, Automatic alarm call, Mini-bar, Fan). For your evening meals you will find a large choice of restaurants in town, in walking distance.
The package includes:
- flights to Genava airport
- transfer by private coach to Hotel in Embrun (persons & bikes)
- on Saturday 19th: half board in Hotel in Embrun ; transfer of bike box & luggage to Hotel in St Jean de Maurienne
- on Sunday evening, 20th: transfer by private coach from Alpe d'Huez to St Jean de Maurienne
- from Su 20th to Thursday 24th: B&B in Hotel in St Jean de Maurienne
- Thursday 24th: transfer by private coach to Geneva airport
Not included are:
- air transport of your bike
- drinks during evening meal on Saturday 19th
- evening meals in St Jean de Maurienne
- private medical insurance & travel insurance

How to book your holiday and pay the deposit :
- post the completed booking form + cheque made payable to SportActive, to: SportActive, 1st Floor, 2 Dacre Terrace, L/Derry, BT48 6JU, N Ireland
- by bank transfer in € or £ : please contact us to receive the bank details
Once we have received the deposit, we shall send you a SportActive-Atol-invoice for the outstanding balance of the holiday (to be paid 8 weeks before departure)
Airport transfers :
For the SportActive Cycling Centre in Mallorca : will be organized in function of your flight details ; if you book your own flights the flight details must be forwarded to SportActive with your booking. If any change in your flight schedule occurs later, please check with us if and how this affects your airport transfer. For all changes in transfers an administrative fee will apply.
The transfers for groups are organized with a privately hired bus.
The transfers for individuals or small groups under 5 persons are booked with a shuttle service.
A private taxi can be organized on request ; additional charge applies. Please ask us.
For other holidays : the flight details of the group are indicated in the package description. If you organize your own flights, you must make sure you land in the arrival airport no later than 1 hour 30 min after the group flight in order to join the programmed airport transfer.
SportActive will organise accommodation and activities. The price is inclusive with the following exceptions:
- Cycle hire is extra
- On walking trips there will be a small additional charge for local taxis to walks start and return to hotel (for certain tours)
- Participants are responsible for their own insurance.
- All participants are responsible for their own safety.
- All participants (cycling) must at all times obey the rules of the road.
- All participants are responsible for their own fitness/health to take part in an active holiday.
- SportActive will accept no responsibility for accidents or injury to participants during the trip.
